The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning, that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

This has been one sad month for me, joining the ranks of those who have lost a parent. My dad has been gone for 3 weeks. We got through most of the paperwork and now we must go on with other things. Still we'll never forget how much he meant to us. A hole remains in my heart, I'm sorry if I can't be myself, since I don't feel 'right' or 'whole' just yet. I've been having flashbacks of things we did and talks that we had. Even though we're back in Minnesota life isn't the same, but I know we have to pick up and move on with this year. It seems like it would be better if things were put on hold for a while to give a person time for mourning, but it isn't meant to be. Just gotta keep going, the Lord is giving me strength day by day, I couldn't do this without Him.
